Reboot

June 19, 2008

It feels like it has been an incredibly long week and I’m exhausted, tired, worn out, sleepy, and flat out fatigued.  Our son is out of town spending time with his grandparents, so my wife and I have been enjoying some much needed rest.  Wait a minute.  Major contradiction here.   I feel like  I’m totally wiped out and I’m supposed to be getting some rest?

Actually it has felt like we are newlyweds again.  No kids in the house making noise, no toys laying around, no Lego’s right in the middle of the hall way, and no pausing the TV because of interruptions.  However, we’ve been staying up late, going out to dinner, and well…you know….there are some other fringe benefits with not having children in the house.  Benefits that newlyweds enjoy! :)

I’d have to say I’m really enjoying it…no not the fringe benefits, I mean don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying that too, but I’m really enjoying spending time with my bride again.  I’m enjoying our dates and hanging out like we used to.  We’ve certainly needed this time for a reboot of our marriage and our lives together.  It is reminding me why we got married in the first place and why my wife is my best friend.

We have an incredible weekend planned, with dates on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  I’m REALLY excited about it and can’t wait for the weekend to get here.  In fact I think I’m going to skip out of work around noon on Friday to get things started early.  I hope my aging body can keep up with all of the excitement, fun, and pleasure I’m having.  I’m not the young pup I used to be!

Oh, and for those of you who are parents and might be a little concerned right now about my lack of any mention of my son…well, I miss him a ton and can’t wait for my buddy to return, so we can wrestle and have fun together.  But for now, I’m going to live it up with my bride and enjoy my time with her.

I’m not going to make today’s post complicated or lengthy.  All I really need to do is say Happy Anniversary Sweetie!

I still remember our wedding day like it happened yesterday.  It simply doesn’t seem possible that fourteen years have passed.

Remember on our wedding day when me and the guys were hanging out in that room up in the front of the church and I stepped in to see what was going on and at that very moment I saw you walk by to go to the bathroom?  So much for not seeing your bride before the ceremony on your wedding day!

Remember how high Charity jumped to grab your bouquet when you tossed it?  That was so funny!

Remember all that awesome food and cake we didn’t get to eat, because we were busy talking to friends?

Remember the mess Doug made of our car with all that Vaseline?  We still owe him big time!

Remember how bad we got pelted with bird seed, that I had to go to your parents house and take a shower before we could drive to Dallas?  That sucked!

Remember the car ride to Dallas?  Yeah baby…that was fun!

Our wedding day was awesome and I’m sooooo glad we got married!  I know our fourteen years haven’t always been as fun and happy as that first day together, but I wouldn’t want to repeat the past fourteen years without you in my life.  I’m looking forward to the next fourteen and with a little help I’m confident they are going to be great!

Love you…and Happy Anniversary!!!
