Keziah Design
April 3, 2009

“The name Keziah is a Hebrew word. It describes a tree that has aromatic bark or berries. This “spice” tree produces berries that have a sweet smell. Birds often pick these pure berries for a delicious treat.
Keziah Design can be summed up in three words – fresh, relevant and creative.
What I do and how I am different!
Anyone can make a logo or design, but not everyone can make creativity relevant to your specific needs. Simply stated, it takes a partnership and collaborative, creative thinking. I bring ideas that are unexpected and fresh.“
Hey everyone, I just wanted to highlight a little design company I’ve been working with for over a year now. My good friend Dave Butler is the owner of Keziah Design and he has helped Retread with all of our branding. He’s currently working with us to develop a logo and membership card for our Jubilee Kids Club and he’s also helping me with the design and branding for the personal photography business I’ve started.
The reason I continue to go back to Keziah Design when I need something designed is because of the personal hands on relationship that’s formed between Dave and any person he’s working with. He cares about what you want and will work with you until YOU are satisfied! So, go over and check out their website today!
Especially his illustrations! If you’re looking for someone to illustrate the children’s book you just wrote, Dave’s your guy!!!

I’ve been putting off going to the zoo with my family for years, because it’s just not one of my favorite things to do. I grew up on a farm so I got to see plenty of animals and smell plenty of crap, so why would I want to go to the zoo? Last Friday during spring break I finally gave in and took off work to take my wife and son along with my brother and his family to the Fort Worth zoo. It was a really great time and I walked away with a clasic picture. Definitely worth the day!
Today you get to help me have a little fun.

Randomness
February 3, 2009
I need to take a little break this week from writing about our story, because I’m too busy with the upcoming Laces of Love Campaign. Today I’d like to just share three random things that have been on my mind over the past few weeks.
Laces of Love Campaign
I’ll start out with the one thing that’s consumed so much of my mind. It’s a little event we are having to raise a few funds for our non-profit Retread. We are having it at Dunn Bros Coffee house in Dallas, which is one of my favorite places to hang out, have conversations, and write. We’ve invited a ton of people to the event and we really have no idea how many will show up, but we’re hoping for about a 100 people. We want to share with everyone what’s been happening with our organization, listen to some great live music, see some fabulous art created right before our eyes, and of course eat some yummy sweets and drink some awesome coffee. This is our first event and we’ve designed it to be smaller than ones we’ll likely have in the future, but we’ve got to start somewhere.
Q 2009
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the upcoming Q event in Austin, Texas on April 27-29. I’m really excited to have the opportunity to attend for the third time. I’m especially excited about it being in our state this year and for the opportunity to experience Austin. There’s an incredible list of speakers including David Crowder and a special concert by Over the Rhine, who I’m really falling in love with.
John 1:1-14
I’ve been living in John for a few weeks now. I’m wrestling with it, soaking it up, and breathing it in. I want these words to penetrate my being and fill me up from the inside so it may reflect on my outside.
The Life-Light
1-2 The Word was first, the Word present to God, God present to the Word. The Word was God, in readiness for God from day one.
3-5Everything was created through him; nothing—not one thing!— came into being without him. What came into existence was Life,
and the Life was Light to live by. The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness; the darkness couldn’t put it out.
6-8There once was a man, his name John, sent by God to point out the way to the Life-Light. He came to show everyone where to look, who to believe in. John was not himself the Light; he was there to show the way to the Light.
9-13The Life-Light was the real thing: Every person entering Life he brings into Light. He was in the world, the world was there through him,
and yet the world didn’t even notice. He came to his own people, but they didn’t want him. But whoever did want him, who believed he was who he claimed and would do what he said, He made to be their true selves, their child-of-God selves. These are the God-begotten, not blood-begotten,
not flesh-begotten, not sex-begotten.
14The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.
…and I want to be where The Word is!
What about you? Are you ready to move into the neighborhood? Where is your neighborhood?
Rethinking, Status Quo and Sick Christians

I can’t think of anything I could write today that could Reshape people’s lives any better than some of the things I’ve been reading lately, so I’m going to share those links with you today. Some are long, so if you’re not a reader, then you’ll probably choose not to read them, but you’ll be missing out because they are so good!
