Wanted: A Better Movie

June 30, 2008

I’m reading the reviews this morning on the movie Wanted and they are all good.  Unfortunately for me I can’t agree.  My wife and I saw this early Friday evening and it totally sucks.  Sorry!  I wasted a blog post on Friday about my excitement to see this movie and it didn’t live up to the hype of the trailer.  All the good scenes are used in the trailer and the rest is just a boring, overacted, mess.  James McAvoy doesn’t live up to his acting ability and doesn’t come anywhere close to being as good as he was in The Last King of Scotland, which was one of the reasons I wanted to see this movie.

Maybe I’ve been screwed up by recent movies, The Kite Runner and Bella.  Two brilliant movies with deep, well thought out, gripping, engaging plots, that draw you in and keep you involved all the way to the end.  And then they stick with you for days as you think about the characters in the movies.  I’m not sure I gave Wanted another thought the rest of the weekend and I’m wanting to forget all about it.

Save your money movie fans or go see Iron Man again, because Wanted doesn’t have much of a reward.

  1. I thought that’s what you wanted – a movie where you didn’t have to think.

  2. Yeah but it made me think, “boy this sure is a crappy movie.” So, that’s why I was so disappointed. :)

Typical american movie with some kind of russian spice. Producers told the director to make good action film and the director did that. There is no need to think. In this case, Iron Man is weak too.
