A few weeks ago I wrote a little post about Scott Harrison and charity: water.  I was very impressed with the organization and with Scott after hearing him in an interview at Q in New York.  He has an amazing story and I found it to be very inspiring.  Since the post, I’ve signed up to be a friend of the cause on Facebook, so now I get regular updates from their organization.

Yesterday I read an email from Scott and charity: water that Saks Fifth Avenue has partnered with them to raise money for building clean water wells in Sub-Saharan Africa, India, and Central America.  Saks has already raised $120,000 and the employees have rallied behind this project and are coming up with creative ways to raise money.

One of the ways Saks is raising money is through Mothers Day e-cards which are available at saks.com or you can check them out here.  It’s pretty simple.  You purchase a $20 e-card for your mother this Mother’s Day and it gets e-mailed to her on Sunday.  The best news is, it goes towards a well that will give another mother clean drinking water for 20 years.  It’s pretty amazing when you really stop to think about it.  Instead of giving your mom something for Mother’s Day that she doesn’t need, a mother in some third world country can start giving her children clean drinking water.  What a gift!  At the same time your mom recognizes you have a heart for the world and you are still acknowledging how much you love her through the e-card that she receives.  This sounds like a win-win situation to me.

Would you consider doing this for your mother this Mother’s Day?
